Social programs
OPEN Health organizes social and awareness activities throughout the year to help build a supportive, inclusive, and positive workplace.
World Cancer Day
We shared a number of resources with our teams via our Spotlight on Science internal newsletter under the 2022 theme of #CloseTheCareGap, highlighting our scientific endeavors in the field of oncology research.
International Women’s Day
We recognized International Women’s Day by encouraging teams to show their support by sending in photos of themselves striking a #BreakTheBias pose.
Black History Month (US)
This year’s theme was Black Health and Wellness. We chose to honor important African American medical scholars and healthcare providers by donating to Rainier Scholars. The foundation helps create forward momentum in providing access and opportunity while strengthening our shared belief in educational equity.
LGBTQIA+ Pride
This past June, OPEN Health celebrated the LGBTQIA+ community during Pride Month! Throughout the month, we produced various communications and ran several events at our offices in the US and UK. We joined together to prepare more than 300 toiletry bags for local LGBTQIA+ organizations. We also made a monetary donation to the Trevor Project and started a LGBTQ+ Pride Committee and internal support group. The goal of the group is to share ideas for improving diversity, small praises, and more!
Mental Health Awareness Week
In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Week in the UK, we ran a series of events including meditation and yoga sessions which teams could join virtually.
Juneteenth
We recognize the importance of Juneteenth and what it stands for: the end of slavery in the United States of America. In 2022, Juneteenth became a recognized holiday in most states. The OPEN Health US offices were closed in recognition of what is now being called ‘America’s second Independence Day.’ In celebration of freedom and Black culture in America in 2022, we donated to the Juneteenth Foundation.
Breast Cancer Awareness
We supported the fight against Breast Cancer with a ‘Pink Out’ global event where everyone was encouraged to wear something pink and eat a pink sweet treat.
World Menopause Day
We launched our internal Menopause Awareness Workshop and Commitment Statement to provide line managers with the tools to recognize and support those individuals going through peri/menopause. Various external resources and statistics were shared, as well as a personal story from a member of staff about their menopause journey.
Movember
We were proud to support Movember, awareness for men’s health, by hosting educational events in our global offices with moustache-themed treats.
World Mental Health Day
We launched our partnership with Mental Health at Work to help shape and evolve our Mental Health & Wellbeing Program at OPEN Health, a key component of which is the identification and training of Mental Health Allies across the organization. We also shared resources and information around mental health and had a schedule of virtual events that individuals could get involved in, including mindfulness practice and yoga.
Operation Homefront
OPEN Health sponsored an event for Operation Homefront, an organization for military families! We were able to put together over 500 supply bags to donate to military families in need.
Jam Kancer in the Kan
The Parsippany office held a Kan Jam tournament and made donations to a local charity, Jam Kancer in the Kan.
